Keratin Extensions
What are K-Tip extensions?
Keratin tip extensions are individual strands of real hair with a small keratin tip at the end. Using a heated tool, the stylist fuses each strand to a tiny section of your natural hair, creating a lightweight, flexible bond that lasts about 3 to 4 months with proper at home care. They add length, volume, or both, and because each strand is placed individually, they can blend with dimensional color for a natural look.
Who are good candidates for k-tip extensions?
This method is ideal for clients wanting to add length, volume or both to their hair. K-tips allows flexibility in the desired result for each client. Keratin bonds are very small and are a low tension application to the hair which is ideal for clients who have finer hair that want to add length and density. This method is also great for clients that like to put their hair up in different styles since the bonds are small and flexible and act as your own hair!
How much are keratin-tip extensions?
Extensions are a luxury service but since K-tips are individual strands of hair we are able to tailor and order the right amount of hair that fits your lifestyle and budget!
Prices can vary based on result:
Volume- $350-$750
Length-$850-$1300
Length and Volume-$1200-$1500
How does the process work?
Pre-consultation
During the pre-consultation we will go over lifestyle, aftercare and desired results. This when we will talk through goals for your hair, as well as how you take care of your hair outside of the salon. We will color-match and decide desired length and density to know how much hair will be needed for our appointment. Once decided we will order the hair and find a time to book your appointment!
Extension Application Day
The day is here were installing your keratin extensions! Depending on if were adding length, volume, or both to your hair the service can take 2-5 hours. During the appointment we will make sure everything is comfortable with your install, the color blends perfectly, and the length and cut is seamless. Once all the hair is install and the cutting is finished we will go through aftercare and expectations with your new extensions!
Aftercare
Extension are an investment so it is important to take proper care of them at home to get the best wear and longevity out of the hair. It is super important to put as gentle as possible and put as little of tension on the hair as you can since this may cause damage to your own hair. We will also go over products to use and what to avoid with keratin extensions.
Common Questions
Will it damage my hair?​
I find keratin-tip extensions to be the gentlest form of extensions since the application is all about low tension and comfortability. With that being said any damage that could be happening tends to be aftercare and lifestyle factors as putting too much tension or heat on the bonds and hair.
Can I bring in my own hair?
No I don't do installs with hair you bring in. I use Line One Hair Extensions and I have chosen to use their brand because of quality and longevity of the hair they produce.
Are there "move ups" or how does re-application work?
There is no move ups when it comes to keratin tip extensions! Once applied the k-tips stay in your hair for 3-4 months. For re-applications we take all the remaining k-tip extension out and put new fresh hair in for your new install. This means every re-applications requires a new set of hair to be purchased!
"I'm noticing slipping bonds and bonds coming out at home!"
No need to worry! This is completely normal and natural! It isn't a problem with the install or the aftercare you are doing it just happens as the hair cycle and your hair naturally sheds. That being said if a lot of bonds are coming out or slipping please contact me so we can find out whats going on but it is super common and nothing to be concerned about!
